After 10 years in the telecoms sector with Virgin Media, Jack Short says his move to Svella Connect is the challenge he was looking for.
“It really was a no-brainer,” he says. “It’s the chance for me to be involved in building something up from scratch – but one with vision, huge potential, and everything already in place.”
As our new Network Business Unit Director, Jack oversees a department with one of largest workstreams in the company. But while he’s still finding his feet, having only started with Svella Connect at the beginning of January, he says he’s not daunted by the task ahead.
“Having managed teams across the UK for Virgin, I’m used to making sure major projects run smoothly in terms of financial and commercial governance, to ensure they are delivered on time and on cost,” he says.
“Yes, there’s a lot for me to do and learn here – after all, Svella Connect is just over a year old – it’s hugely reassuring to see the quality of the people working for the company. It’s a great place to work.”
A die-hard Sheffield United fan, Jack spends as many Saturday afternoons as possible watching from the Bramall Lane terraces.
“Not as many as I would like,” he laughs. “I’ve got a young family, so they take up most of my spare time these days.”
