As Delivery Manager on the BAU and resegmentation workstream, Dean Foster has an important role in Svella Connect’s telecoms business.
And with 30 years in the industry himself, it would be hard to think of someone better qualified to supervise this crucial but unsung sector of the company’s operation.
“I enjoy the role, as it’s a fast-moving pace and we have a great team who all work together helping each other out,” Dean says. “And I find the work challenging as it throws up different scenarios and issues every day and is a very rewarding role.”
It’s a role, Dean explains, that involves allocating resource for cabling, installation and splicing dates for the crews, booking them in with the customer, and updating e- track and spread sheets for head office.
“I issue the work to the crews on a daily basis and field any problems throughout the day liaising with internal and external departments to resolve issues,” he says.
“I also authorise values on e-track for billing purposes to make sure we are claiming the correct codes and getting any additional work values authorised by customers before billing.”
Dean started out in the telecoms industry in 1992 with a company called Diamond Cable. It was the very early days of CATV and telephony, but he gained experience working for more than a decade with various companies. In 2020 he was recruited by nmcn and has now made the transition to Svella Connect.
When he is not hard at work, Dean enjoys playing golf and watching sport – but he admits that most of his time is taken up with his two daughters, who are making their own mark in the singing, dancing and acting profession.
“I’m very proud of them, and it makes my other job running Dad’s Taxi Service all worthwhile!” he says.
